Frequently Asked Questions

How can i have a website I can update myself?

I'm paying my web designer for every little change.

If you don't have a Content Management System (CMS) in place, then this is going to happen whoever you get to design your site. We develop sites using a open source CMS, train you how to use it, and you can then manage and change the content on your site whenever your want. And then you should only need to engage us when you want to Extend your website into some new direction ... e.g. add new functionality such as a user forum

But for general content changes YOU should NOT have to pay.

What is a Content Management System (CMS)?

A CMS is a software application that allows you to easily create and managing online content such as HTML. It is used to manage and control a small or large, dynamic collection of Web material (HTML documents and their associated images). A CMS facilitates content creation, content control, editing, and essential Web maintenance functions. The software provides authoring (and other) tools designed to allow users with little knowledge of programming languages or markup languages to create and manage content with relative ease.

Most systems use a database to store content, metadata, or artifacts that might be needed by the system.

Administration is typically done through browser-based interfaces. Unlike Web-site builders, a CMS allows non-technical users to make changes to a website with little training. A CMS typically requires an experienced coder to set up and add features, but is primarily a Web-site maintenance tool for non-technical administrators.
